Minneapolis (27-May-2010) - John H. Herman has been reappointed for a three-year term on the Minnesota Legislative Citizens Commission on Minnesota Resources. The commission makes funding recommendations to the Legislature for environment and natural resource projects from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund. Current funding is approximately $25 million per year.
The commission is composed of 17 members: five senators, five representatives, five citizens appointed by the governor, one citizen appointed by the Senate, and one citizen appointed by the House. Herman will be serving his second term as the Senate citizen appointee.
Herman practices in the areas of real estate development and finance, legislative and government relations, and environmental and land use law. He was the principal author and advocate for many of the state's environmental laws.
Providing representation in environmental review, permitting, zoning, land use and similar matters, Herman's past real estate projects include corporate headquarters for Graco, General Mills, Medtronic and Cargill; cultural institutions such as the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, MacPhail Center for Music, Shubert Center for Dance and Music; mixed-use developments such as Block E, Apache Plaza Redevelopment, Ivy Hotel and Condominiums; and housing such as Laurel Village, RiverStation, Heritage Landing, Village at St. Anthony, Minnetonka Glen Lake Redevelopment.
