Gina has a broad range of health law experience. Her work has included:

• Advising hospitals, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities and medical device manufacturers regarding billing and reimbursement issues, including compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements
• Counseling hospitals and clinics regarding reimbursement audits and voluntary disclosures and repayments to governmental and private health programs
• Assisting health care providers with licensure, accreditation and Medicare enrollment
• Helping hospitals manage medical staff issues, contracting and EMTALA compliance
• Advising health care providers, medical device manufacturers and software companies regarding health information privacy issues, including compliance with HIPAA's privacy and security regulations and state health records laws
• Counseling device manufacturers regarding clinical trial agreements and the protection of human subjects in research
• Assisting device manufacturers in appropriately structuring relationships with physicians and other referrals sources; managing relationships with sales staff and distributors; complying with state physician payment reporting laws; developing compliance plans; and adhering to industry ethics standards, including the AdvaMed Code
• Drafting and negotiating agreements for professional and administrative services, and recruitment support
• Assisting hospitals and health care systems in forming and restructuring joint ventures, subsidiaries and other affiliates
• Obtaining tax-exempt status for nonprofit organizations
• Advising tax-exempt health care providers and integrated delivery systems regarding compliance with section 501(c)(3), the excess benefit transaction rules, and best practices for corporate governance and managing conflicts of interest
• Representing providers in investigations by CMS, the Department of Justice and the Minnesota Attorney General
• Performing compliance reviews and assisting in the development of compliance plans
• Representing health care practitioners in licensing and disciplinary matters before state licensing boards
