Alex Denny is a partner in Faegre Baker Daniels' London office. He is experienced in a broad range of employment issues, with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and TUPE, and the management of executive terminations.
Alex advises on:
- Fair procedures for recruitment and selection
- Employee status and the implications of the employment relationship
- Contracts of employment, service agreements, and employment policies and procedures
- Grievance and disciplinary procedures, including minimum statutory procedures
- Post-termination restrictions and the enforcement of those restrictions
- Health and safety issues
- Race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age discrimination
- Effective management of staff and, where appropriate, dismissal
- Severance agreements on behalf of both employers and senior employees, including consideration of the tax implications of those agreements
- Transactional work, including outsourcing and business reorganisation
- Collective redundancies
- Conduct of Employment Tribunal and EAT litigation, strategic issues and settlement
Examples of Alex's work include:
- Advising a multinational U.S. corporate in the IT sector on its £1.5 billion acquisition of a global semiconductor business carried out in 21 jurisdictions and employing more than 5,000 employees worldwide
- Advising a multinational U.S. corporate in the publishing sector on the high profile terminations of two of its most senior UK directors
- Advising various U.S. and UK corporates on collective redundancy and restructuring exercises
- Advising public and private sector employers on transfers in the public sector
- Advising a number of high-net-worth individuals on employment issues, including the negotiation of employment terms, remuneration packages (including STIP, LTIP, share option and carried interest entitlements) and severance terms
