Faegre Baker Daniels serves the legal needs of Indian tribes and the businesses that interact with them.

We have worked on tribal financings totaling more than $6 billion and involving more than 90 tribes in 21 states. Projects include casinos, hotels, convention centers, infrastructure, and other investments. Working with tribal borrowers, lenders, developers, credit enhancers and underwriters, we handle transactions involving an array of financing tools, including bank loans, credit facilities, taxable and tax-exempt bonds, and high-yield note, and bond offerings.

In addition to financing transactions, we also maintain an active, nationwide Indian law practice where we represent tribes, tribal agencies and businesses, and other entities on a wide variety of topics affecting Indian country, especially business and commercial matters.

We represent clients on general federal-Indian law issues, land into trust, Indian land determinations, BIA leases and approvals, IGRA, gaming compliance and tribal gaming commission matters, environmental law and regulations, taxation, federal recognition, labor and employment matters, construction matters, energy projects, and pro bono matters including Indian Child Welfare Act appeals and cultural items repatriation. We regularly represent tribes in litigation matters before federal and state courts and other bodies, and we have substantial experience drafting tribal codes, ordinances, resolutions, and constitutional amendments.

Our attorneys have years of experience with the BIA and NIGC and with tribal-state compact and gaming ordinance matters, which enables us to efficiently guide our clients through complicated and challenging federal processes.
