Attracting Diverse Talent
Faegre Baker Daniels devotes substantial attention and resources to recruiting a diverse workforce. We attend multiple diversity job fairs and interview at high-diversity-index law schools. We mentor law school students and conduct on-campus outreach to diverse law student populations.
Faegre Baker Daniels also provides Diversity Scholarships to 1L and 2L law school students, with the goal of attracting students from historically underrepresented groups to the private practice of law.
We invest in recruiting 1L students of diverse backgrounds. We participate in the LCLD 1L Scholars Program in Denver, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis. In Minneapolis, we participate in a 1L Summer Clerkship Program established by Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. This unique program provides two 1L summer associates the opportunity to be a part of our summer program, and to spend several weeks during the summer working directly with the legal departments of our clients, Cargill and Target. This collaboration provides the summer associates networking opportunities and insights into the in-house counsel perspective. In our Denver office we hire a 1L student through the Colorado Pledge for Diversity. This program is made available to students attending either the University of Colorado School of Law or the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. In Indiana, the firm participates in Indiana CLEO's Gateway to Diversity 1L recruitment program.
Faegre Baker Daniels also works to expose middle school and high school students from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds to the legal profession through such programs as Street Law and Urban Debate League.
