Government Relations

Faegre Baker Daniels represents units of local government, state governments, municipal utilities, schools and institutions of higher learning, and other entities who have interests in areas of public law. In our work, we draw upon the experience of our lawyers, who have served in various public sector capacities. former deputy commissioner, legislative staff, advisors to the governors, former assistant United States Attorneys, and leaders of business and industry advocacy groups.

Government Contracts

Faegre Baker Daniels serves the litigation and transactional needs of clients who do business with the United States government as well as state and local governments in the U.S. We have litigated a wide range of contractor disputes in federal courts across the U.S. and involving most major agencies of the U.S. government. We represent government contractors at all stages of the contract process, from initial negotiation and bidding through dispute resolution.

Among our accomplishments in the area of government contracts are a unanimous, 9-0 victory before the United States Supreme Court (Franconia Assocs. v. United States, 122 S. Ct. 1993 (2002)) and achieving in 2007 what the trial court described as a "milestone settlement" of 283 cases involving more than 700 plaintiffs' claims against the U.S. government for breach of contract and unconstitutional takings.
