Brian Burke retired after a 35-year legal career with Faegre Baker Daniels in March 2012, and he no longer practices law. A certified civil mediator in Indiana, his litigation practice concentrated on business torts and unfair competition, employment, intellectual property, securities and products liability.

Before the merger of Faegre & Benson and Baker & Daniels, Brian devoted more than 20 years to firm management and leadership through 2007. In 15 years as Chair and Chief Executive Officer, he led Baker & Daniels' expansion geographically across Indiana and around the globe, as well as doubling the number of lawyers and consultants practicing from offices in Indiana, Washington, D.C. and China. B&D Consulting, a division of Baker & Daniels, also grew in numbers and services, providing a national multidisciplinary team of government affairs, health reimbursement, media and public relations professionals from its office in Washington, D.C.

In addition, Brian helped the firm conceive and implement initiatives to improve and expand service to clients, accommodate more flexible work schedules for the firm's attorneys, raise the firm's visibility in the markets that it serves, enhance the firm's support of the communities in which its offices are located and strategize for the future needs and interests of the firm and clients.

After stepping down as Chair and Chief Executive Officer in 2007, Brian served the firm as Chair Emeritus and General Counsel through December 2011.

Throughout the years, Brian has been active in community service. In 2012, the Boy Scouts of America's Crossroads of America Council named its new Scout Education and Program Center after Brian and Charles Golden, co-chairs of a major gifts campaign that raised $16.7 million. Opened in 2010, the 25,000-square-foot Golden-Burke Scout Center serves as a vital hub so more youth, families and volunteers can participate in Scouting through additional training opportunities.
