Bruce Jones appears in a variety of federal and state appellate courts on behalf of clients of all sizes.  Whether defending a trial court decision or pursuing the reversal of flawed judgment, Bruce brings his specialized knowledge and experience to a broad array of litigation areas, including product liability, drugs and medical devices, consumer fraud, and the environment.  In addition to his expertise in briefing and oral argument, Bruce has conducted extensive appellate motion practice, pursued and resisted petitions for extraordinary writs of mandamus and prohibition, and sought and opposed discretionary appeals.

Bruce also provides extensive pre-appellate consultation to litigants in state and federal trial courts, providing advice and guidance on topics relating to anticipated appeals, motions, jury instructions, and other arguments directed to preserving issues for appeal.

• Allen v. Burnet Realty, LLC, 801 N.W.2d 153 (Minn. 2011) Upheld ruling that real estate company's legal administration program for agents did not constitute "insurance."
• Glorvigen v. Cirrus Design Corp., 796 N.W.2d 541 (Minn. App. 2011).  Obtained reversal of multi-million dollar judgment based on educational malpractice doctrine.
• Oklahoma ex rel. Edmondson v. Tyson Foods, Inc., 619 F.3d 1223 (10^th Cir. 2010)  Upheld denial of motion to intervene in environmental action.
• Attorney General of Oklahoma v. Tyson Foods, Inc. 565 F.3d 769 (10^th Cir. 2009). Upheld denial of preliminary injunction in environmental claims.
• Friedland v. TIC-The Indus. Co, 566 F.3d 1203 (10^th Cir. 2009).  Upheld grant of summary judgment on contribution claim in environmental action.
• Softchoice Inc. v. Schmidt, 763 N.W.2d 660 (Minn. App. 2009)  Upheld grant of summary judgment on claimed breach of non-compete agreement.
• Brunswick Corporation v. Genmar Holdings, Inc., 2008 WL 2340363 (Minn. App. 2008). Successfully challenged sua sponte grant of summary judgment on amount of damages.
• Hardin v. BASF Corp., 397 F.3d 1082 (8th Cir. 2005).  Sustained dismissal of claims based on federal preemption.
• Welfare of Children of N.F. and S. F., Parents, 749 N.W.2d 802 (Minn. 2008). Successfully urged adoption of new definition of "physical abuse" in context of child in need of protection.
• Stringer v. Minnesota Vikings Football Club, LLC, 705 N.W.2d 746 (Minn. 2005). Defended judgment for Minnesota Vikings in wrongful death matter.
• Wyeth v. Natural Biologics, Inc., 395 F.3d 897 (8th Cir. 2005).  Successfully defended judgment against defendant in trade secret theft case.

Bruce also leads the Appellate Division of Faegre Baker Daniels' JUSTice for Kids, a pro bono program that provides representation to guardians ad litem and others in state court appeals in termination of parental rights and other family law cases.

Bruce has also devoted considerable time to defending toxic tort and other products liability claims. He has administered and defended hundreds of asbestos cases pending in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, coordinating asbestos pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and court and attorney communications on behalf of more than 30 different companies.
