Donald Stewart practices in the firm's London office. Donald is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, and he is Faegre Baker Daniels' only Scottish qualified attorney. Donald is a partner in the business and corporate services practice.
Donald's practice is mainly focused on corporate finance, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, and UK publicly listed companies. He has had extensive experience in working with companies in the energy and communications sectors. His clients include corporate finance houses, stockbrokers, resources, telecomms and high tech companies, U.S. corporations and serial entrepreneurs. Donald has particular expertise in AIM, which is a market designed for smaller high growth companies with an average market capitalization of around $50 million-$80 million.
Donald is past chairman of the Quoted Companies Alliance, a UK not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the cause of smaller quoted companies. Prior to becoming chairman, Donald was the chairman of its legal committee. He has been involved in discussions with the UK Financial Services Authority, HM Treasury and the London Stock Exchange in relation to the introduction of the European Prospectus Directive into UK law leading directly to amendments being made to the UK enacting legislation.
Notable work includes advising Fair Isaac Corporation in relation to its $300 million recommended bid for London Bridge Software, acting on UK acquisitions for Lawson Software, CoorsTek Inc and Ensign Geophysics, acting for EDS in terminating joint venture arrangements with PwC and acting in various AIM transactions including the US $200m IPO of Dragon Ukranian Properties Development.
