Joe Price: When Partners Collaborate, Clients Win
The path to partnership at a major law firm is lined with individual accomplishment—which may, understandably, create a bit of an independent streak among top-level attorneys. In fact, “they’re too self-reliant” topped Law360’s list of “Four Bad Habits All Partners Need to Break Now.” Faegre Baker Daniels partner Joe Price agreed that partners can be self-reliant to a fault, and argued that the end result tends to improve when partners consult their colleagues.
“In a firm, you try to hire the best people," Price said. "You try to hire the people who can do the job, the people you think can help you, and it's foolish not to take advantage of that help. You have to realize you can't do it all, you don't know it all, and what's in the best interest of the client is making sure that you get the right result for them, regardless of who comes up with it."
