Partner

John has practiced at Faegre Baker Daniels since 1993. He concentrates on distribution and franchise law issues, intellectual property disputes, and antitrust counseling and litigation. He has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial litigation and has won a variety of commercial cases on summary judgment and at trial.

Distribution and Franchise. John has represented an impressive array of product manufacturers and franchisors in disputes over dealerships, distributorships, and franchises located in over twenty states. He has successfully litigated such disputes on behalf of Anheuser-Busch, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Ameriprise Financial (f/k/a American Express Financial Advisors), TRAK International, Labatt USA, Express Services, Stihl, National Beverage Corporation, Sulzer Carbomedics, Pacific Cycle, and many other leading companies.

Intellectual Property. John's intellectual property litigation practice focuses on trade secret and trademark disputes, as well as on damages issues in complex intellectual property disputes of all kinds. John was a key member of the litigation team for Wyeth in its successful billion-dollar trade secret misappropriation lawsuit relating to the chemical process for manufacturing Premarin. Other notable intellectual property successes include litigated matters for Dow Jones Corporation and Hawkeye Communications.

Antitrust and Trade Regulation. John advises a wide range of clients on antitrust and trade regulation issues, with a particular emphasis on pricing practices and dealer and supplier relations. Among the more significant successfully litigated matters: dismissal of Sherman Act claims against Hutchinson Technology, Inc., and Schroeder Milk Company, and successful defense of Lull International against claims under the Robinson-Patman amendments to the Clayton Act.
