Paul Lowell Haines


Lowell Haines practices with the firm's nonprofit organizations group where he represents college, university and secondary education clients. His legal services include responding to various administrative, faculty and student life issues, including concerns involving board relationships and conduct, institutional development, business operations, faculty tenure and termination, employment law, liability issues, student discipline, FERPA, campus security, and emotional and physical disabilities or disorders. Lowell also provides legal services in the drafting and review of various policies, procedures and institutional documents.

In addition, Lowell concentrates a significant portion of his practice on providing general legal services to organizations exempt from federal and state income taxes. He provides legal services to various churches and faith-based organizations, private foundations, museums, fraternities, veterans organizations, amateur athletic organizations, public charities of all types and other nonprofit organizations. Lowell's practice includes addressing all nonprofit organization legal issues confronting such institutions, including incorporation, application for exemption, negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service, private ruling requests and similar matters.

Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Lowell served for 10 years in the administration of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. During those years, he served as Vice President for Student Development from 1985-87, Dean of Students from 1983-85, Director of Student Programs from 1980-83 and Residence Hall Director from 1977-80. Lowell brings to Faegre Baker Daniels a long standing commitment to and understanding of the unique needs of the college and university. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education.
