Nick Mathioudakis is a partner in the business and corporate services group at Faegre Baker Daniels, and he serves as co-leader of the firm's emerging companies and venture capital practice. The emerging companies and venture capital practice has been organized to deliver targeted services to emerging companies and their investors worldwide.
Nick advises clients in the information technology, clean energy and medical device industries and works with high-growth businesses in other industries. His clients include technology companies (of all stages), venture capital firms, angel investors, and large companies which implement complex technologies and/or make investments in technology companies. Nick is involved in complex licensing transactions, equity and debt investment transactions, merger and acquisition transactions, and other strategic transactions involving firm clients.
Nick joined Baker & Daniels LLP, a predecessor to Faegre Baker Daniels, in 2006 after spending the prior six years as an executive and company founder in the software industry. He was part of the initial executive team and served as the vice president of corporate development and general counsel for Aprimo, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise marketing management software solutions. Nick helped Aprimo raise $32 million in venture capital financing, oversaw its legal matters, and was also involved in its business development activities and growth strategies. Aprimo was acquired by Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC) in January 2011 for $525 million. Nick also founded another technology company prior to resuming his legal practice.
Nick began his legal career as a business lawyer at Barnes & Thornburg and was vice chair of its entrepreneurial services group. Prior to and while attending law school, he was a certified public accountant and worked at Crowe Chizek & Co, a leading public accounting firm, and Wood-Mizer Products, Inc., the worldwide leading provider of portable sawmills.
Nick is a frequent speaker and panelist on issues relating to complex licensing transactions, raising capital, business development and entrepreneurship.
