Stuart Buttrick leads the labor managment relations practice for the Faegre Baker Daniels labor group.
Stuart concentrates his practice on representing management in labor relations matters, including in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, in arbitrations and in contract negotiations. He has defended and prosecuted numerous unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB and has represented employers in multiple unfair labor practice trials. In all, Stuart has represented employers before the NLRB in 14 states. He also develops strategies to help companies remain non-union and represents employers in union organizing drives. Stuart practices extensively in construction labor law. He has handled union jurisdictional disputes and lawful and unlawful picketing and strike activity.
A significant portion of Stuart's practice also consists of representing employers in employment litigation and administrative charges. He has defended employers in hundreds of state and federal court cases and administrative charges in 23 states and has handled appellate work before multiple federal Circuit Courts of Appeal. Stuart also offers his clients practical solutions to challenging personnel and policy issues.
Stuart regularly gives presentations to employer and trade groups on a variety of labor relations and union avoidance issues, litigation practice and avoidance, workplace harassment, employment discrimination law, document retention and other human resources and personnel-related topics.
