Projects have combined rental and for-sale housing with medical clinics, hotels, libraries, retail and restaurants. We have extensive experience solving the land use, financing and subdivision issues related to diverse uses.

Tax Credit Enhanced Transactions

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit

Since the inception of the low-income housing tax credit program in 1986, we have been involved with hundreds of low-income housing tax credit transactions (LIHTC) throughout the U.S., working on some of the largest and most complex projects.

Historic Redevelopment

Our lawyers focus on creative approaches to historic tax credit transactions and façade easements.

New Markets Tax Credits

We handle complex transactions utilizing new markets tax credits (NMTC), representing developers, investors and lenders. We represent clients in large, complex projects involving cultural facilities, public/private service centers, retail centers, corporate offices and manufacturing facilities.

Energy Tax Credit

We assist clients in structuring investments in renewable energy facilities.

Multiple Financing Sources

Combining various financing sources is common in our work. We have represented developers on projects with tax increment, tax abatement, federal, state and local financing, and conventional financing.

We have experience working with a wide range of HUD programs, including Section 8, HUD-insured loans, Section 202, Section 236, Flex Sub Loans and other programs.

Housing in Indian Country

We have been involved with more LIHTC transactions on Indian land than any other firm in the country.

Working closely with our public finance practice, our attorneys represent clients on various types of bond financing, including housing revenue, 501(c)(3) and general obligation bonds.

Entity Formation

We have experience forming all types of entities used in housing and community development projects. Our lawyers provide advice regarding what entities to use and what limited liability and tax structures are best for a transaction.
