Unique Courtroom Strategy, Winning Record Lands Faegre & Benson Lawyer Top Litigator Status

David J.F. Gross, head of the Faegre & Benson LLP intellectual property litigation practice, has been selected by The National Law Journal for inclusion in its annual list of 10 top litigators.

A special section in this week's issue profiles these successful attorneys and their unique strategies for winning challenging cases—often against daunting odds.

In compiling its list, the publication looks at factors such as nominees' history of wins and their ability to sway juries. Gross was recognized for his role as lead trial counsel for Seagate Technology in a protracted, high-stakes patent case brought by Siemens. Using colored blocks to illustrate complex technology at the heart of the case, the defense team demonstrated to a California jury that the patent at issue was not valid.

This victory—which was covered by a variety of local and national news organizations—was one of the nation's most significant defense jury verdicts in the past several years.
