Mary Beth Claus, a partner at Baker & Daniels LLP, will become Senior Counsel at the Cleveland Clinic. In her new position, she will be responsible for the medical center's health care regulatory matters.
"It is with mixed emotions that I'm making a change in my legal career," Claus said. "I am looking forward to this exciting new challenge, but I thoroughly enjoyed working with outstanding colleagues and friends at Baker & Daniels.
"Had it not been for the experience I gained at Baker & Daniels, I realize I would not have been approached for the position at Cleveland Clinic," Claus continued. "That is a true credit to the firm. I will greatly miss the people at Baker & Daniels but hope to have the opportunity to continue working together for many years."
Claus was a member of Baker & Daniels' health and life sciences team. She represented clients on federal and state regulatory issues, fraud and abuse matters, compliance and risk management strategies, and contractual and joint venture transactions. Claus counseled institutional and corporate organizations, including public and private hospitals, academic medical centers, ambulatory surgical centers, nonprofit health care grant agencies, provider-owned HMOs, Medicaid MCOs and provider networks.
"Mary Beth has been a tremendous partner at Baker & Daniels," said Tom Froehle, the firm's chair and chief executive partner. "Although we will miss her greatly at the firm, this is a terrific opportunity, and I am confident that she will serve the Cleveland Clinic well."
Claus has been named to The Best Lawyers in America and Indiana Super Lawyers, including distinction as one of Indiana's top 25 female lawyers.
