83 Baker & Daniels Attorneys Listed in Best Lawyers in America

Eighty-three Baker & Daniels LLP attorneys have been named to the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

The firm's 83 lawyers — four more than were listed a year ago — from offices in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and South Bend are being recognized in 35 different practice areas. Selected Best Lawyers in more than one area of practice were 29 of Baker & Daniels' attorneys.

Among Indiana firms, Baker & Daniels has the most listed lawyers in 14 areas of practice, including corporate law with 18, bet-the-company litigation with eight, banking law with five and nonprofit/charities law with four. The firm ties for the most Hoosier lawyers in labor & employment law with seven and bankruptcy & creditor-debtor rights law with five. Baker & Daniels also is the Indiana leader with the most Indianapolis (67) and Fort Wayne (12) attorneys named to Best Lawyers.

Other areas of practice where Baker & Daniels had the most lawyers or was tied for the most lawyers listed among Indiana firms were administrative law, antitrust law, education law, eminent domain & condemnation law, insurance law, international trade & finance law, leveraged buyouts & private equity law, and securities law.

First published in 1983, Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive annual peer-review survey. For the new U.S. edition, more than 24,126 leading attorneys cast more than 2.8 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in the same and related specialties.

Because of the rigorous and transparent methodology used by Best Lawyers and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in the annual publication is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers "the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."

"We continue to believe — as we have believed for 26 years — that recognition by one's peers is the most meaningful form of recognition in the legal profession," said Steven Naifeh, Managing Editor of Best Lawyers.
