Bridget M. Ahmann and Erin M. Verneris, members of the Faegre & Benson drug and device litigation practice, have received a national award for legal writing from the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. Only 30 lawyers nationwide are selected for this honor.
Ahmann and Verneris's award for the article "Name Brand Exposure for Generic Drug Use: Prescription for Liability" marks the tenth consecutive year Faegre & Benson lawyers have received this distinction.
Published in the summer 2009 issue of Hamline Law Review, the article discusses developments in the law of products liability and preemption that affect the liability of name-brand drug manufacturers for claims arising from ingestion of generic equivalents.
Both Ahmann and Verneris focus their practices on products liability and defense of mass torts litigation for clients that include pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of biologics and medical devices.
The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement is a national program run in association with the Library of Congress and its law library. The awards ceremony will be held June 15 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
