Jim O'Neal Testifies in Support of Tort Reform Measure Before MN House of Representatives Civil Law Committee

Jim O'Neal, head of the firm's product liability and mass tort practice, recently testified in support of a tort reform measure before the Civil Law Committee of the Minnesota House of Representatives. The bill, authored by Representative Doug Wardlow, would provide for appeal as of right of class certification decisions and require a showing of detrimental reliance and actual injury before damages could be awarded in consumer fraud actions. Jim discussed his experiences defending consumer fraud and class action cases with the committee. The bill passed and was referred to the Judiciary Committee.
