Faegre & Benson is proud to announce that the firm will be honored by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce with the first-ever Best in Business Legacy Award. The firm was selected from a competitive group of nominations based on its sustained work in the community and positive impact on the business climate and region.
The Legacy Award honors JUSTice for KIDS, a Faegre & Benson initiative providing pro bono legal service, community service, and charitable contributions for the needs of abused and neglected children. From 1998 to 2010, almost 500 Faegre & Benson lawyers and paralegals donated 32,500 hours of pro bono service. During this same time, firm personnel donated 17,000 hours in firm-sponsored community service.
"Behind the numbers, each JUSTice for KIDS case represents the life of a child in our community. The children we represent are vulnerable because they have been abused or neglected by their families, have fled violence in their native countries, or are homeless," said Dianne Heins, the firm's Pro Bono Counsel. "We have engaged in difficult, painstaking legal work on behalf of these children, one child at a time, for twelve years. At the end of the day, our hope for each child is that her life will be better because of our efforts."
Along with Faegre & Benson, five other Best in Business honorees will be recognized at the Best in Business Awards dinner May 10 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center.
