Faegre & Benson Advises Perusa Partners

International law firm Faegre & Benson LLP has advised new client Perusa Partners Fund 1 L.P., a German private equity fund, on its acquisition (through Area Clearance Services Group GmbH) of BACTEC.

BACTEC is a Kent based company that offers specialist services in explosive ordnance contamination. The company has been providing unexploded ordnance (UXO) and landmine clearance and bomb disposal services globally for 20 years and to date has carried out unexploded ordnance disposal contracts in over 45 countries, clearing over 500,000 landmines since 1991.

The acquisition complements Perusa's portfolio of companies, having acquired Dynasafe, the Swedish munitions destruction equipment manufacturer earlier this year, and German munitions disposal firm GRV LUTHE in 2009.

Perusa were jointly advised by Faegre & Benson and Ernst & Young Law.  The sellers were advised by Brachers LLP.

The Faegre & Benson team advising on this transaction was led by Linda Crow, with corporate assistance from Nicholas Jennings, Mary Shields and Irina Mikhnova.  Paul Finlan advised on tax issues, Kathryn Dowsett advised on property matters and Victoria Pengelly and Anna Byford advised on employment issues.

Commenting on the deal, Linda Crow said:

"We are delighted to have acted for Perusa on this acquisition.  This was a complex deal that required a high degree of legal expertise from across the firm to ensure the transaction was successful.  On behalf of all here at Faegre & Benson, we wish Perusa the best of luck with the latest acquisition and look forward to working with them again in the future."
