Amie Peele Carter of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP was named the American Intellectual Property Law Association's (AIPLA) Mentor of the Year on Oct. 24.
The AIPLA's mentoring program connects new and experienced members to foster their professional growth, both as lawyers and as AIPLA members. Mentors commit to spend time with mentees and provide advice and guidance meant to empower advancement in the field of intellectual property law.
Peele Carter, a partner with FaegreBD, was recognized as Mentor of the Year for her commitment to the program, generous donation of time to mentorship responsibilities, and excellent guidance and support provided to mentees. She serves on the AIPLA's board of directors and chaired the group's Trademark Committee from 2009-12. As a prior chair and vice chair of the AIPLA's Mentoring Committee, Peele Carter was instrumental in the development of the mentoring program. She also has mentored many younger women attorneys and IP associates at FaegreBD.
An intellectual property and sports lawyer, Peele Carter focuses her practice on trademark, copyright, eCommerce, social media and privacy matters. Her client base includes Fortune 100 and 500 companies, mid-sized and small companies, entrepreneurs, sports organizations and athletes, marketing agencies, TV personalities, artists, authors, musicians and publishers. In 2011, she co-founded Sports Circle Indy, a nonprofit networking organization, and she continues to serve on the group's board of directors.
Peele Carter received the award at a luncheon during the AIPLA's Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
