Indianapolis Business Journal Recognizes Kathy Osborn as an Influential Indiana Woman

Antitrust lawyer and pro bono advocate Kathy Osborn of Faegre Baker Daniels was named one of Indiana's 2014 Women of Influence by the Indianapolis Business Journal.

The IBJ's Women of Influence program recognizes women who are at the top of their professional field and serve at the highest levels of community and public service. 

A partner and co-chair of FaegreBD's antitrust and trade regulation practice, Osborn has successfully advised on antitrust litigation and compliance matters that affect entire industries, international companies and organized college athletics. She represents businesses and individuals in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels and in enforcement agency proceedings before the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general.

An IBJ profile of Osborn noted her "desire to serve the less fortunate," which has manifested in a pre-law career working for Indiana University's Institute on Disability and Community, significant pro bono assistance "supporting people with disabilities and families and organizations that support them," and more than a decade as a Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer (including a Big Sister of the Year award).

The publication also noted Osborn's interest in business and product development. "Every [antitrust] case is different and usually revolves around a product," she told the IBJ. "I now know about movie distribution and eggs and cathode ray tubes and other products, some of which I never even knew existed." Osborn also was selected by Whirlpool for a 2006 Mother of Invention Award for two pending patents for her idea to interface baby mobiles with media sources such as iPods.

The IBJ honored Osborn and nineteen other influential women at a breakfast on Oct. 31.
