Faegre Baker Daniels partner and leader of the firm's recreational vehicle team, James Brotherson, has been elected chairman of the Lawyers Committee for the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
As chairman, Brotherson will be responsible for leading meetings of the RV industry's lawyers and consulting with RVIA professionals about issues of concern to lawyers who represent the industry.
FaegreBD's recreational vehicle team counsels the RV industry in everything from federal and state regulations, including the labyrinth of state-specific rules on dealers and distribution, to product liability defense and business strategies. Brotherson represents many of the largest manufacturers and suppliers to the RV industry, which is based in northern Indiana. Businesses incorporated and represented by Brotherson have grown to become significant participants in RV and construction industries. He has been consistently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the area of transportation law, of which the RV industry is grouped. The Indiana University Maurer School of Law awarded Brotherson with its Distinguished Service Award last year.
Brotherson practices out of the firm's South Bend office, holding leadership roles in numerous civic organizations in Elkhart County, where he resides. He currently serves on the board of directors of Bicycle Indiana, a state-wide bicycle advocacy and lobbying group, and recently completed two terms as a director of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County. Brotherson also has served as a director of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.
