FaegreBD-led Relisting for Focus Media Named ‘Equity Deal of the Year'

A Faegre Baker Daniels team acted as international counsel to Focus Media Holding, Ltd. in a deal that has been named Equity Deal of the Year by the China Law and Practice Awards 2016.  

The China Law and Practice Awards were held on Sept. 21 and serve as the area’s most prestigious legal awards ceremony. The awards celebrate trail-blazing deals and precedent-setting cases. They recognize only the top deals and the firms that excelled in their practice areas, as well as the principal lawyers and rising stars of the year.

In the deal, Focus Media delisted from the NASDAQ in 2013 and relisted on the Shenzhen Stock exchange in a $7 billion backdoor listing through Hedy Holding Co., Ltd. This was the first time a Chinese company left a U.S. stock exchange to list on the Shenzen exchange.

Wendy Yan, corporate partner in FaegreBD’s Shanghai office, led the team and was supported by attorneys Doug Wright, Michael MacPhail, Sally Qin, Marlene Li and Cloris Mao.
