Jack Sperber Named a 2018 'Lawyer of the Year' by Law Week Colorado

Faegre Baker Daniels partner, management board and executive committee member, Jack Sperber, has been recognized by Law Week Colorado as a 2018 ‘Lawyer of the Year’– an honor given to Colorado attorneys who displayed legal excellence throughout the year.

Sperber was praised by the publication for his eminent domain work and recent representation of private owners in condemnation proceedings. Law Week Colorado highlighted his recent completion of a valuation trial for a client whose industrial property was taken by the City and County of Denver for the National Western Center redevelopment project. The City contended that the owner was only entitled to $12.59 million in just compensation. After Sperber tried the case, the owner received a total award of $28.5 million (including interest), plus attorney fees and costs.

Throughout his career, Sperber has been involved in more than 30 trials, numerous evidentiary hearings, and more than 20 appellate arguments. He focuses primarily on serving as national eminent domain counsel to clients with large real estate portfolios; representing property owners in complex, high-value condemnation litigation; and representing energy and utility companies in acquisitions for large energy projects and in defending against municipalization and other condemnation attempts affecting their own property.
