Catherine Masters has joined Faegre Baker Daniels in Chicago as counsel in the firm’s product liability and environmental practice group.
For 35 years, Masters has briefed and argued the most complex litigation issues at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. When cases go awry, she steps in to steer them in the right direction and provide the counsel, analysis and strategy to solve difficult legal problem.
Masters skillfully represents clients’ interests, with experience in state and federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to appeals, she has handled complex trial proceedings involving class actions and multidistrict litigation, as well as post-trial proceedings and dispositive motions.
Bolstering the firm’s product liability capabilities, Masters draws from her experience briefing matters in the U.S. Supreme Court on the constitutional limits of punitive damages, claims for fear of future injury, standards for settlement class actions and original Supreme Court proceedings, among others.
Maters earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she served on the editorial board of The University of Chicago Law Review. She holds a master’s degree from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago.
