ALI-ABA Course on Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation

Leslie Fields is both a planning chair and a faculty member for the 31st Annual Advanced American Legal Institute-American Bar Association course "Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation." Other faculty members from Faegre Baker Daniels are Brandee Caswell, Jack Sperber and Andy Ehrlich of FaegreBD Consulting. The national program is the country's most prominent on eminent domain law and procedures, and offers practitioners the opportunity to meet and network with the best and brightest in the field.
New developments in eminent domain and land valuation law and procedure are quickly changing. Much of the recent court activity and legislation has involved the controversial use of eminent domain power to take private property for economic development by private parties, while municipalities are threatening to use eminent domain to take underwater mortgages, and budgetary constraints are imposing pressures on condemning authorities. This year's course will address those areas where new developments in the law and procedure have and will reshape the practice.
