  • Maureen Ohlhausen, commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission
  • Congressman Michael Burgess, M.D., chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade

The Honorable Mary Bono of FaegreBD Consulting will facilitate the discussion. As the former chairman of the Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee, Mary has an impressive record and continues to be a knowledgeable leader in this area.

Data collection, data security and the breach notification bills are a concern for businesses and consumers alike. Commissioner Ohlhausen will address the FTC’s work on those emerging consumer issues, as well as net neutrality and the area of privacy as it relates to the Internet of Things.

Likewise, Chairman Burgess is leading efforts to address the many issues surrounding data breach notification legislation, privacy and cyber threats and will discuss the challenges policymakers face as technology continues to drive us into a world where it is easier to obtain and use personal information for unauthorized purposes.
