David Barrett Looks at Business & Corporate Finance in Q&A

"My most challenging deal was one where the client had a laser focus on minimizing its fees and thus tried to cut corners at every angle," David Barrett of Baker & Daniels told Law360 in a Q&A. "It also took a lot of work on my part to convince the client it did not know how to do the deal on its own and that it needed significant legal advice."

Barrett, who chairs Baker & Daniels' business and corporate finance group, focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, general business matters, private placements, corporate governance, franchising and a wide variety of other complex transactions.

In a Q&A with Law360, Barrett also talked about what attracted him to his practice area, the most challenging legal problems facing clients today and where he sees the next wave of activity in business and corporate finance.
