Jim Birge Joining Indiana Delegation to Visit Business Leaders in China

Jim Birge of Baker & Daniels will join Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels and a delegation of Hoosier business and community leaders in traveling to China and Japan from November 6-17. The group will meet with executives in the automotive, electric vehicle and life sciences sectors on the trip, according to Inside Indiana Business in its story, "Delegation Set for Trade Mission."

Birge will participate in the visit to China from Nov. 8-14. Stops will include Shanghai, Hangzhou (in Zhejiang Province) and Anji. Daniels will meet with representatives of companies with a presence in Indiana, including Techtop Motor LHP in Shanghai, as well as those expressing an interest after visiting the state earlier this year.

The trip marks the sixth trade mission that Daniels has led as governor. The cost of the state delegation is being covered entirely through private donations to the Indiana Economic Development Foundation and utilizes no tax dollars.

Birge, a Baker & Daniels partner, concentrates his law practice in advising clients on a variety of corporate transactions and economic incentive programs. He chairs the firm's advanced manufacturing and logistics practice group. Before returning to Baker & Daniels, Jim served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Joseph E. Kernan, where he worked on economic development and government reform issues.
