Joel Sayres Explains the Shift Toward Fee Awards In Delaware in Law360

The U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware has emerged as a popular venue for patent holders. Evidence of this is the largest year-over-year increase in patent filings of any other district in 2013.

Faegre Baker Daniels associate Joel Sayres, who has litigated intellectual property disputes in venues throughout the United States, authored an article for Law360 explaining the reasons why the District of Delaware has seen such an uptick in patent filings, and why decisions issued by District Court Judge Richard Andrews in September 2014 may change the way patent holders approach their choice of venue.
