Bruce Engler quoted in Star Tribune about Lake Region Medical
Lake Region Medical, a Chaska, Minn.-based med-tech manufacturing company, was sold in March to Accellent, a med-tech device manufacturer based in Boston.
The Star Tribune published a March 30 feature on Lake Region detailing the company's history. The family-owned business started as a fishing lure and tackle producer run out of a renovated chicken coop behind the home of the late Joe Fleischhacker Sr. In 2014, Lake Region is the oldest continuous supplier for Medtronic with 1,800 employees in Minnesota and Ireland. The combined company will retain the Lake Region name and will have about 5,000 employees.
Bruce Engler, FaegreBD partner and head of the M&A practice, led the deal team for Lake Region, and was quoted in the Star Tribune story. "Most deals today are done with lawyers firing documents back and forth at each other," Engler said. "The Fleishhackers wanted to understand everything and they sat with us for days during negotiations. The other side was here, too. It was a lawyer's dream."
