David Lyons and Brad McKinney Discuss Agribusiness Impact of Trans-Pacific Partnership with Politico

As industry leaders prepare for the potential passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Faegre Baker Daniels professionals have emerged as thought leaders on the trade agreement's impact on agribusiness. FaegreBD Consulting senior director David Lyons and advisor Brad McKinney spoke to Politico about the deal’s agricultural implications, and a client alert on the topic written by Lyons, McKinney and FaegreBD partner Angie Castille appeared in the October 12 edition of Politico Influence. In the alert, entitled "Key Gains for U.S. Agriculture in Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement," the authors outline the reasons why the TPP could spur global growth for U.S. agriculture companies.

"Economists suggest that the TPP agreement could expand U.S. agricultural exports by billions of dollars," the alert said. The authors also acknowledged "a number of challenges that are strictly political in nature" that could thwart the agreement's passage, and concluded that "U.S. agriculture has a role to play, and much to gain” from the TPP.
