No ‘Home Field Advantage' in Sports Law, Amie Peele Carter Tells Law360

Large markets may be necessary to sustain sports franchises, but according to a recent Law360 article, sports law practices can thrive without sharing a zip code with the teams they represent. Amie Peele Carter, partner in Faegre Baker Daniels’ Indianapolis office, said sports law is geographically flexible because the majority of sports-related legal matters are not bound by local or state jurisdictions.

“Intellectual property and employment law are two areas of law that arise perhaps the most often in sports law, and the largely federal nature of those practice areas only supports the conclusion that geography does not matter," Carter said.
