Office Leader

In 1998, Faegre Baker Daniels became one of the first 14 U.S. law firms with an office in China. Our lawyers in Beijing are native Chinese with legal education in both China and the United States and have broad experience in representing foreign companies in China. We understand legal and regulatory issues foreign investors, particularly U.S. and U.K. investors, face in doing business with and investing in China, and are knowledgeable on the way Chinese companies do business in their unique legal and government landscape. We represent and advise Chinese companies to trade with and invest in foreign countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and belt and road countries in Asia, Africa and South America.

The Beijing team advises and assists foreign companies in establishing entities and setting up joint ventures in China and acquiring assets and equities of Chinese companies in a variety of industries including, insurance, telecommunications and IT, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, chemicals, biofuel, agribusiness, life sciences, manufacturing, and new energy. We also advise foreign companies on regulatory matters for investing and operating business in China and assist clients on conducting investigations on various matters to ensure compliance with Chinese law.

Living and Working in Beijing

In Beijing, China's massive capital, our lawyers and clients enjoy the sophistication of modern architecture as well as the historic soul of the city's ancient sites. Beijing is home to the Forbidden City, the largest and best preserved imperial palace complex in the world, and Tiananmen Square, built in 1417 during the Ming dynasty. Teahouses abound throughout the city, and Mandarin cuisine is the most typical food found in Beijing — most famous for its Peking Roast Duck. At the Beijing Opera, residents and visitors alike can enjoy an evening of storytelling and exquisite costumes. A visit to the National Museum of China will reveal the splendor and beauty of ancient and present-day Chinese cultures and civilizations. And, of course, the Great Wall is a must-see.
