Overview

Megan Farooqui works on complex commercial litigation defending companies and individuals primarily in securities matters which includes internal investigations as well as litigation brought by securities regulators. She also represents clients in the financial services, construction, corporate, energy and insurance industries.

Securities Investigations & Litigation

Megan handles investigations and litigation by securities regulators including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Justice (DOJ), FINRA and the Colorado Division of Securities.

Shareholder Disputes and Litigation

Megan defends corporations, officers and directors against claims by shareholders, including claims brought as putative class actions or as derivative claims, including those brought under 10(b) of the Securities Act of 1934 and state “blue sky” laws. Megan’s experience includes defending statutory or common law claims involving alleged fraud, fraudulent concealment, and breach of fiduciary duty.

Financial Litigation

Megan assists clients in financial services by defending against claims brought by consumers, including those under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act. Additionally, she assists client by defending against state-law claims under unfair competition laws and consumer protection laws. 

Commercial Litigation

Megan brings a wide range of experience successfully second-chairing successful trials. She has represented clients in:

  • Construction cases involving construction defects, contract disputes and delay claims
  • Contract disputes
  • Disputes between corporate members of limited liability companies
  • Financial litigation matters, including breach of contract actions, fraudulent transfer actions, non-dischargeability actions

Insurance Defense

Megan defends insurance companies in litigation pertaining to claims, coverage, bad faith and claims for extra-contractual damages.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Megan served as a legal intern in the Washington State Office of The Attorney General. She also worked as a legal extern for the Hon. James L. Robart in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
