Overview

Shannon represents clients in advertising, media and intellectual property disputes, including libel and defamation, rights of privacy and publicity, false advertising, trademark and copyright infringement, and First Amendment matters. She also assists news organizations and journalists in obtaining access to government and judicial records.

Outside of litigation, Shannon has particular expertise in counseling clients on best practices in advertising, sweepstakes, contests and promotions. Prior to law school, she spent nearly a decade focused on advertising and promotions as an in-house paralegal at General Mills and Carlson Companies. She brings this experience and perspective to her current practice, advising clients on a wide array of issues, including compliance with the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, .com disclosures, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), social media promotions, and preparation of sweepstakes and contest rules. Shannon is also a member of the firm’s privacy and cybersecurity team, counseling clients on data privacy matters and assisting with responses to data incidents.
