Overview
Adrian has handled arbitrations across a wide international scope that encompasses South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He also represents investors in arbitrations arising out of Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and in contractual claims against states. He has represented investors in matters on three continents with claims valued in the hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars.
In the financial services sector, Adrian represents banks and has been involved in a number of shareholder disputes and acted in various high-value cases involving hedge funds. He is an advocate with higher rights of audience in all courts.
His work in the international arbitration arena is recognized in Legal 500 (where he has been a leading individual annually since 2014) and in Chambers and Partners (where he has been listed since 2012). The Chambers and Partners 2019 edition noted that commentators described Adrian as “an outstanding lawyer with a highly commercial approach to problem solving."
Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Adrian was a partner in the arbitration group (and previously head of the London office) of an international U.S.-based firm.
