Laura Koewler Marion



Laura Marion advises clients on intellectual property matters, focusing on technology and licensing transactions.

General & IP Transactions

Laura works closely with clients — including both established and emerging companies — to advance their objectives in structuring, drafting and negotiating all types of intellectual property and technology agreements. Her experience includes joint development, hosting and IT outsourcing agreements. Laura also negotiates Software-as-a-Service solutions, software licenses and service agreements. In addition to contract negotiation, Laura drafts and revises legal forms, builds contract playbooks, and leads contract trainings for clients.

Privacy & Cybersecurity 

Laura assists clients in responding to data breaches, including providing a state-by-state analysis for breach notification purposes. She also helps with cyber due diligence, reviewing information security contracting language and internal documentation for sound cybersecurity practices.

Media Law

Laura reviews and writes terms of use and privacy policies for the websites and applications of major corporations and keeps clients compliant with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act, various FTC advertising guides and other applicable state regulations. Additionally, Laura assists news organizations with requests for public access to government and judicial records.

Past Experience

Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Laura worked as an attorney in sourcing and procurement at Target Corporation, where she reviewed multi-million dollar agreements, including technology services such as SaaS, software licensing and hardware acquisition. She also gained experience negotiating agreements regarding cybersecurity.

Personal Interests

Laura enjoys traveling, yoga, hiking, painting, making stained glass artwork and spending time with her husband and two young boys.
