Congressional Policy Advisor Experience
Darrin is an experienced navigator of federal energy and environmental policy. He served as deputy legislative director for Sen. Mike Enzi, R-WY — following a stint as the senator’s energy and environmental policy advisor — where he worked closely with federal agencies including the Department of Interior (DOI), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Forest Service. He oversaw Sen. Enzi’s legislative portfolio on wide-ranging topics including natural resources, environmental issues, public lands, water, agriculture and trade. He was the office’s main liaison with key stakeholders including many Wyoming state agencies. He also drafted speeches, op-eds, press releases, website content and talking points, and assisted in supervising staff in developing policy proposals and moving them through the legislative process.
Darrin also served as an energy and environmental policy advisor for Sen. John Barrasso, R-WY, and Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-MT, and as deputy director of government affairs for a national public affairs and marketing firm.
Darrin served in the U.S. Navy for four years, during which he supervised enlisted personnel in the directing and controlling of aircraft during Operation Allied Force over Kosovo and Operation Enduring Freedom over Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in 2002 with the rank of Petty Officer Third Class (E-4).
