Overview

Adam Smith helps clients sleep soundly by managing their corporate matters, including governance, transactions and cybersecurity. He integrates a background in law, policy and incident response to help clients plan for business success.

Adam gained legal experience as a summer associate at Faegre Baker Daniels and Jones Day, where he drafted memoranda on Blue Sky laws, contributed to due diligence reports for initial public offerings and supported white collar and antitrust investigation work. Adam also served as a legal extern analyzing environmental and international sovereignty issues with the United States Coast Guard in Honolulu.

Government Experience

Before his legal career, Adam spent six years working in government and think tank positions in Washington D.C. As the operational planning lead for the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Headquarters Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP), Adam coordinated the drafting and exercising of three federal plans for cyberattacks, biological incidents and natural disasters. He led collaborative efforts with the Department of Justice, State Department, Fortune 500 companies and local law enforcement to prepare for a coordinated response to physical and cyber threats. Adam served as a member of the interagency Critical Infrastructure Crisis Action Team (CI-CAT) and worked with the National Cybersecurity and Communication Integration Center (NCCIC) to strategize additional planning efforts to secure evolving vulnerabilities.

Prior to joining DHS, Adam worked on Capitol Hill for Rep. Mark Meadows and served as the deputy managing editor of the International Journal of Religious Freedom, published by the International Institute for Religious Freedom.
