Senior Land Use Consultant


Gene Valanzano provides planning related land use recommendations and represents developers seeking local planning and zoning approvals. Gene also advises local governments in the development or revision of comprehensive land use plans, zoning and subdivision control ordinances, land use petition review and rules of procedure.

Plainfield, Indiana Planning and Zoning 

Gene worked as the consultant for the Town of Plainfield in the development of its Zoning and Subdivision Control Ordinances, which won a Small Town and Rural Planning Award for Excellence for its innovative and user-friendly approach to the management of growth and maintenance of the quality of life in a community under tremendous growth pressures. Gene also served as the acting Director of Planning and Zoning for the Town of Plainfield.

Indianapolis, Indiana Planning 

Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Gene worked for the City of Indianapolis, gaining experience in growth policy planning, housing planning and current planning. Gene served as the Deputy Administrator of the Current Planning Section of the Department of Metropolitan Development. In that capacity, he made recommendations which established Division and Department policy directions.
