Leita Walker helps clients publish and defend content—news and advertising—and leverage consumer data for marketing purposes.

Content-Related Litigation

A litigator with more than a decade of experience, Leita represents news organizations and other defendants in libel litigation and in battles for press and public access to government and judicial records. Her media clients include the Minneapolis Star Tribune, American Public Media Group, Tribune Media Company, Quincy Media Inc., The Associated Press, and Fox/UTV Holdings, LLC. Leita also represents non-media entities in other types of content-related litigation, including false advertising and right of publicity cases.

Advertising and Privacy Counsel and Compliance

Outside of the litigation context, Leita works with clients on advertising claim substantiation and on compliance with data privacy laws as companies work to leverage consumer data for marketing purposes. She is knowledgeable on the rules that govern social media and mobile marketing campaigns, online behavioral advertising, e-commerce, and related issues. She reviews and writes terms of use and privacy policies for the websites of major corporations and helps these clients understand and comply with the Communications Decency Act, DMCA, TCPA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, FTC Act and the FTC’s various advertising guides. Leita’s non-media clients include Caribou Coffee, Einstein Bros. Bagels, SUPERVALU, Radisson Hospitality, Inc, Land O'Lakes, and Pella Corporation.

Journalism Experience

Before joining FaegreBD, Leita interned at The Christian Science Monitor and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She also worked at The Lawrence Journal-World.

Personal Interests

Leita has four kids, four chickens and a hive of bees. She gardens, bikes and plays pick-up basketball. She lives by the words of Ruth Bader Ginsburg that each part of her life provides a respite from the other.
