As leader of Faegre Baker Daniels’ gerrymandering litigation project, Jay has served and now serves variously as lead counsel, amicus curiae counsel and collaborator in federal cases in Wisconsin and Michigan, and in the United States Supreme Court, challenging the constitutionality of partisan gerrymandering.

Business Litigation and Professional Responsibility Expertise

As Professional Responsibility Counsel and Claims Counsel, Jay advised the firm on ethical and professional issues.

For 30 years before assuming those roles, Jay litigated and tried cases for businesses and individuals in mass torts and other complex litigation on subjects including technology and business transfers and torts, manufacturing supply chain, corporate governance and takeovers, and aviation accidents and transactions.

Jay has tried numerous lengthy bench and jury trials in state and federal courts, and arbitrations, and has prosecuted and defended appeals at all levels.

Personal Interests

Jay is an active pilot and holds a commercial pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
