Hormel Foods Acquires Columbus Manufacturing

United States - Minnesota

Hormel Foods acquired Columbus Manufacturing, Inc. — a premium, authentic deli meat and salami company — from Chicago’s Arbor Investments. The deal strengthened Hormel’s position in the retail deli category, where Columbus has become a respected, fast-growing brand with approximately $300 million in annual sales. Hormel has been seeking to expand in the retail deli category, which President and CEO Jim Snee referred to as “one of the fastest-growing areas in the retail grocery store.”

Faegre Baker Daniels advised Hormel Foods on the $850 million acquisition — the largest in Hormel’s history to date.
