Indianapolis Public School System Saves on Operational Efficiencies and Uses Budget to Increase Teacher and Principal Pay

United States - Indiana

Concerns from the community of Indianapolis about the magnitude of a referendum proposed by the Indianapolis Public School (IPS or the District) prompted the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce (Indy Chamber) to work with the District to find operational efficiencies that would allow the District to reduce its need for additional funding. The Indy Chamber retained Faegre Baker Daniels to lead the consulting engagement and to work collaboratively with IPS personnel to identify savings opportunities that would mitigate the need for more funds.

The FaegreBD consulting team identified a range of operational efficiency options across functions like transportation, facilities, central office, and healthcare that could save, collectively, tens of millions of dollars annually while also providing funding for major increases in teacher and principal pay.
