We represent key participants in transactions involving renewable fuels, renewable chemicals, waste to energy, biogas and related cleantech transactions. We partner with innovators, including investment banks, commercial banks, institutional investors, sponsors, developers, suppliers and others, in all segments of the renewables and cleantech industries. Our professionals have led many of the cutting-edge transactions for second generation fuels, including aviation biofuels, renewable diesel, cellulosic ethanol and biogas from anaerobic digestion, as well as for renewable chemicals, wood pellets and waste-to-energy. In addition, we advise clients in commercial-scale wind and solar transactions, including regulatory aspects of such transactions. We are adept at navigating political, legal, and regulatory challenges to advance our clients’ business goals and objectives.
At the federal level, we provide a broad range of services to our clients in the foregoing renewable industry segments. We have secured grants and guaranteed loans from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and represented clients before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in developing pathways for renewable fuels to satisfy the federal renewable fuels standards. We have also worked with state-level renewable fuel standards, including California’s low-carbon fuels standard program (LCFS). We are nationally recognized bond counsel and are engaged in the financing of renewable fuels, renewable chemical, biogas and other renewable projects using tax-exempt and taxable bonds. We assist in environmental and construction permitting as well as all other aspects of state and federal regulation of renewable energy and cleantech transactions.
