Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Compliance

The passage and implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) represents a watershed moment for the food, feed and dietary supplement industry. Signed into law on January 4, 2011, FSMA is the single largest change to the U.S. food safety system in 80 years. FSMA adds significant new requirements for the food industry and grants FDA broad new powers.

Faegre Baker Daniels' nationally-ranked food regulatory and litigation attorneys have a long history of working with the food, feed and dietary supplement industries in addressing FDA regulatory compliance issues and have closely followed FSMA's passage and implementation. Our professionals work with clients throughout the supply chain — from food processors, to distributors, to feed manufacturers and dietary supplement companies — advising on FSMA-related issues. Because our attorneys are also seasoned litigators, they provide counseling on FSMA that focuses not only on regulatory compliance, but also avoiding litigation and ensuring companies are well-protected in the event of foodborne illness outbreaks and related litigation.

To better serve our clients as a one-stop shop for regulatory issues and affairs, we partner with Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting, our Washington, D.C.-based consulting division. They assist in providing technical food safety and industry expertise, crisis management, public relations, regulatory advocacy, and government affairs services to our clients.
